Following the recent spell of hot weather, on the advice of our event sponsors South Moor Vets, the decision has been taken that it is necessary to cancel the 2026 Dog Show.
The full text of the decision is:
After speaking with the vets and directors, we fell it’s necessary to cancel the dog show today. It’s looking like it will be around 23/24 degrees, which doesn’t sound too hot, but there isn’t much of a breeze today, an no shelter – the dogs might not necessarily get heat stroke, but with all the hot weather we’ve had over the last month, heat stress is a real possibility (a build up of stress on the body for a period of time).
With their welfare in mind, we don’t feel we should be encouraging them to bring their dogs out in the heat – especially if we’ve been advising owners to walk their dogs early morning and late at night.

As a result, the planned event for 6pm tonight will not be taking place. We have plenty more events taking place during the week and we hope you will come along and support those. Full details of these events can be found in our programme.
